The Eastern Lubber

The eastern lubber grasshopper can get up to 3 1/2 inches long and can be either mostly yellow, orange or black depending on where they are in their life cycle. These things are not afraid of people, at all and will try to back you down if they feel threatened. They also spit a nasty smelling foam if you really annoy them.

This picture was taken back in 2009 at the Buck Lake Conservation Area outside of Sanford, Fl with my Kodak P850. I edited this shot by dulling down the grass to make the lubber jump out more… no pun intended.
